Shadwell Basin History   Part of the retaining wall of St Paul's Chruchyard where the traces of the old Shadwell dock warehouses can still be seen.   The history of Shadwell Basin is intimately bound up with the history of Wapping and in the wider sense with the history of London. The most significant of these is Wapping born historian Madge Darby whose book Waeppa's People, is published on behalf of the History of Wapping Trust by Connor & Butler. This small book is, for most practical purposes, the definitive history of the Wapping area and highly recommended to those interested in its history.
